There’s nothing better for your hair than a keratin treatment to make it smoother, shinier and less frizzy, but there seems to be some confusion on the different types of keratin treatments.
How long does it last and what does each treatment do?
First thing we need to know is "what is keratin" and how does keratin treatment help our hair?
keratin is a type of protein that makes hair.
keratin treatments contain protein and when added to the hair it makes hair stronger, healthier and shinier. Some make hair frizz-free and manageable.
There are 3 types of keratin treatments: Keratin Moisturizing, Keratin Smoothening and Keratin Straightening.
Keratin Moisturizing: Adds moisture , increases shine , strengthens hair , and lasts one to two weeks. Depending on how often you wash your hair. A Bond Pro Treatment would be good for this.
Keratin Smoothening: Smoothens and straightens hair, reduces frizz by about 30-40% and because it reduces frizz , curly hair therefore will appear to be a little straighter or flatter. The hair cuticle absorbs the keratin resulting in hair that looks full and glossy. It adds shine and moisture that lasts 3 to 6 months. It should also be followed with salon home care shampoo and conditioner to maintain the moisture.
Keratin Straightening: Also contains and is made with keratin. This smoothes the frizz and straightens the curl 70-90%. It is a chemical service that contains keratin to protect the hair, adds a little moisture, but because it is a chemical service it does need at home moisture treatments.
Therefore; all 3 keratin treatments contain keratin, but one is for moisturizing, one is for smoothening and one is for straightening. All 3 need salon home care shampoo and conditioners to maintain the moisture and longevity of the treatment.
